The Boston Shamrocks could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Zach Hoelzer into a win. Instead, the St. Louis Lions prevailed, 7-5, in 10 innings. Hoelzer threw 7.0 innings allowing 5 runs. Reliever Cory Murnane picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Darwin Harvey took the loss. Picking up the save was Eric Greco. He's now 14 for 16 in save chances.
Arlen Prest delivered a big hit for St. Louis. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Lions ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"We did a lot of good things tonight," said St. Louis manager Leo Cruz.
With the win over Boston, the Lions improved to 42-34.
