Steelheads Win, 8-5, Versus Drillers
|
The Vacaville Steelheads picked up a win at Ballpark of Vacaville, topping the Edmonton Drillers, 8-5. On the mound for Vacaville was right-hander Rick Bowen. He played a principal role in the triumph. Bowen picked up the win for Vacaville, going 7 innings. He gave up no runs on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 7-5. Keon Miller was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 4 save opportunities.
The Steelheads got a big hit from first baseman Harry Foster. Facing Edmonton pitcher Luis Galdamez in the bottom of the seventh, Foster pounded a bases-clearing double to center. His 12th double of the season put the Steelheads ahead, 7-0.
"I'm not ready for the rocking chair yet," said Bowen.
The Steelheads, at 41-29, lead by one game in their division.
