Eagles Show Moxy in 2-1 Win
The Newark Eagles relied on a great performance from Tim Wharton, who is tied for 6th in the SPBC with a 2.47 ERA, to beat the Ottawa Capitals, 2-1, in 12 innings at Eagles Park. Newark reliever Willie Cantu picked up the win to move to 2-1. Matt Reed suffered the loss. The East Division-leading Eagles are 41-29.

Newark got a clutch hit from Joe Santagata. The second baseman launched a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"This was a tough loss," said Ottawa manager Ricky Wilson. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
