Peanuts Come Back Late to Top Sun Sox, 5-3
|
The rain did not keep San Francisco and Miami from finishing their game.
The Miami Sun Sox could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Bill Dingwell into a win. Instead, the San Francisco Peanuts prevailed, 5-3. Dingwell threw 6.0 innings of 1-hit ball. Brian Castetter recorded his 1st save for San Francisco.
San Francisco took advantage of an error in the top of the eighth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Chris Beveridge hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the Peanuts in front, 5-3.
After the game, San Francisco manager Larry Link applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
The defeat makes Miami 3-2.
