The Sherbrooke Canadians licked the Detroit Chargers, 5-2. Dave Oppelt deserved a big chunk of the credit. The first baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Canadians. The win boosts the Canadians to 26-36. The loss puts the Chargers at 29-33.

With Sherbrooke leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Oppelt hit a sinker from Bryan Largent for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Canadians ahead, 5-0.

"Whenever I help the team," said Oppelt, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
