Getting a good performance from left fielder Jose Gaytan, the Boston Shamrocks defeated the Philadelphia Keystones, 6-5. Gaytan went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Shamrocks. The third-place Shamrocks are 22-22.
An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the third. That's when Shamrocks first baseman Andres Hernandez hit a changeup from Roger Cobos for a 2-run single. Just like that, Boston was up, 2-1.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Hernandez told the Boston News. "And padding the Boston win column."
