Blues Raise Rally Flag, Beat Chicago, 7-5
|
Despite a fine performance by catcher Chad Hiscock, the Chicago Blackhawks lost to the New York City Blues, 7-5. Hiscock hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winner in relief was Josh Columbus. He is now 4-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. The win for the Blues lifted their record to 24-20.
An inflection point occurred with no one out in the bottom of the eighth. That's when Blues third baseman Josiah Hampton hit a cutter from Jose Sierra for a 2-run single. Just like that, New York City was up, 6-5.
"Good, gritty kind of win," said Blues manager Jay Bourne.
