The Quebec City Admirals got a whale of a performance from pitcher Oscar Loza, but the Newark Eagles still prevailed, 3-2, in 11 innings. Loza threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The Admirals, now 23-35, have lost 6 in a row.
Newark used the timely hitting of John Shaffer to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Eagles on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Brian Wolf.
