Spirited fans greeted the Newark Eagles for their clash with the Vacaville Steelheads.

Vacaville beat Newark at Eagles Park, eking out a 6-5 win. The triumph was primarily due to designated hitter Harry Foster. He was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. The West Division-leading Steelheads are 33-22.

Vacaville used the hitting of Rich Daudelin to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Steelheads on top, 6-4. For the game, Daudelin had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We ground out the win," said Daudelin. "That's all that matters."
