Empires Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Tigers

In a low-scoring clash between Southern California and Hamilton, pitcher Nathan Billingsley was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned praise for his performance in the 3-2 Empires win. Dustin Clark, now 3-6, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Jason Davis picked up the save for Southern California, his 1st of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Southern California, had it not been for Cody Stone, the 31-year old third baseman . Stone contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Southern California up, 3-2.
"The other side played a good game," said Hamilton manager Jose Gonzalez. "You tip your cap to them."
The win gives Southern California a season record of 27-25.
