Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Newark Eagles and Sherbrooke Canadians.

Newark Eagles starter Tim Wharton pitched well against the Sherbrooke Canadians at Canadians Park, leading his team to a win, 5-3. John Roe recorded his 7th save for Newark.

It could have been a different outcome for Newark, had it not been for Joe Keenan, the 28-year old right fielder . Keenan contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Newark up, 3-0.

In comments to the Newark Times, Keenan admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."

The second-place Eagles now have a record of 23-19.
