Ross Dowty powered the Saskatoon Moose to a win over the Newark Eagles. The final score was 5-4. The Saskatoon first baseman, who finished 3rd in the SPBC in triples with 2 in 2009, was phenomenal. He stroked 2 extra-base hits, including 1 home run and 1 double. Saskatoon reliever Chris Kaplan picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Nick Wilder took the loss. The first-place Moose have a one-game lead in their division.

Had Johnny Wallace not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Wallace hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Moose.

"This team has the heart of a lion," said Moose manager Justin Fisher.
