Canadians Lose By a Run at Hamilton
|
The Hamilton Tigers rode a solid performance from 37-year-old starting pitcher Victor Zapata to a win, beating the Sherbrooke Canadians, 3-2, at Hamilton Park. The winner was Zapata. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Chris Shipman. Dave Lewis picked up his 1st save of the season.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from right fielder Dan Stricklin. For the game, Stricklin was 1-1 with a double and 2 walks. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead.
Stricklin told the Hamilton Daily: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
With the win, Hamilton pushed its record to 20-14.
