Detroit second baseman Johnny Stokes helped his team beat the Saskatoon Moose, 4-3. Stokes, who finished 4th in the SPBC in hits with 101 in 2007, went 1 for 2 for the Chargers. The Detroit winning streak has reached 3 games.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Ricardo Diaz came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Saskatoon pitcher Andy Clayborn, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Detroit on top, 4-3.
"Our offense was purring," said Detroit manager Mike Anderson. "Like a well-oiled machine."
