Cramer Lifts Admirals to 9-5 Triumph
|
The Quebec City Admirals downed the Calgary Caracals, 9-5, the largest share of the credit belonging to second baseman Aaron Cramer. On the day, Cramer was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Admirals. Ronnie Jacobs picked up the win in relief. Eddie Martinez took the loss for Calgary. The save went to Mike Haines, his 1st this season.
Nick Gardner had a big 2-run double for the Admirals in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Quebec City trailing 5-4 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Eddie Martinez and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Admirals ahead, 6-5.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Gardner told the Quebec City Today. "It's as simple as that."
The win gives Quebec City a record of 2-2.
