The 2012 season did not get off to quite the start the Hamilton Tigers had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Newark Eagles at Hamilton Park. The final score was 8-2. Starting Pitcher Mike Pedersen was the top performer for Newark.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Hisaaki Murakami? The Newark third baseman had a run-scoring walk in the top of the third inning to put the Eagles on top, 2-0. For the game, Murakami had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
