The rain did not keep St. Louis and New York City from finishing their game.
St. Louis turned a good effort from starter Kevin Williams into a win over the New York City Blues at The Lions Hearth. The Lions won the game, 4-2. Williams got the win, improving to 4-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs.
The Lions got a big at-bat from second baseman Chris Whitfield. For the game, Whitfield was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave St. Louis a 4-1 lead.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said St. Louis skipper Leo Cruz. "I can't complain."
