Mavericks Lose, 4-3, at Shamrock Grounds

The Boston Shamrocks picked up a win at Shamrock Grounds, downing the Houston Mavericks, 4-3. On the mound for Boston was left-hander Edwin Quevedo, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Quevedo, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7. Boston goes to 1-2.
Had Josh Olson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Olson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Shamrocks.
"Edwin had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Boston manager Matt Mays.
