Sun Sox Lose to Thunder, 10-5
|
Getting offensive support from Ryan Horrocks, the Tampa Bay Thunder topped the Miami Sun Sox, 10-5. Horrocks went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times for the Thunder. Bobby Walker, who finished 3rd in the PBC in wins with 10 in 2008, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. The victory makes Tampa Bay 8-4, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2012.
Kengo Miyake had a big 3-run home run for the Thunder in the bottom of the first inning. With Tampa Bay trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Bobby Sparks and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Thunder ahead, 3-1.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Miyake.
