Bakana Stretches Hit String to 20 Tuesday, August 2nd , 2011 The Houston (R) Mavericks may have proven to be mere mortals as they lost, 5-3, to the San Francisco (R) Peanuts, but Keka Bakana continued to hit like a god. The shortstop collected 1 hit in 3 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "Bakana is playing great and is on fire right now," Mavericks manager Justin Fisher said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Bakana was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Keka Bakana flied out in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th and singled in the 8th. Thus far this season in 37 games, Bakana is batting .379 with 1 home run, 15 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 55 hits in 145 at-bats. |
