Amateur Baseball Circuit Names Top Player

Alejandro Celada of the Albuquerque Coyotes had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2011.

The 28-year-old left fielder put up a .341 average and a .477 on-base percentage, piling up 59 hits, 7 doubles, no triples, 19 home runs, 46 RBIs and 40 runs scored.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 18. Hisaaki Murakami of the St. Petersburg Pelicans finished second in voting with 6 first place votes, while Jesse Perry of the Manchester Monarchs finished third with 3 first place votes.
