Gomez Strokes 5 Hits Wednesday, September 14th , 2011 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but Providence's Danny Gomez made it happen against the Stars. Everything came together at the plate for the 25-year-old shortstop as he collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and helped the Grays triumph, 12-4, at Providence Field. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Gomez said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." Danny Gomez hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off David Hinchey in the 8th and hit a three-run triple in the 8th. This year, Gomez is hitting .302 with 6 home runs and 30 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .371 clip and scored 39 runs. View Boxscore |
