Long Beach's Ellsworth Will Miss Season Thursday, August 18th , 2011 When Tim Ellsworth was hurt against the St. Petersburg Pelicans, the Long Beach Titans were hopeful that the injury was not serious. However, it proved to be more severe than first thought. The 27-year-old reliever suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow throwing a pitch in yesterday's game. Team doctors told BNN today that Ellsworth would miss 15 months of the season. Ellsworth has compiled an ERA of 2.22 so far this season, winning 0 games with 2 losses and 3 saves. In 16 relief appearances he has hurled 24.1 innings, yielded 18 hits and struck out 36. Opposing hitters have batted .207 against Ellsworth. |
