Philadelphia Rookie Hurls His Way to PBC Honor Saturday, October 1st , 2011 Novice? Newcomer? Rookie? Yeah, he's all that -- but he's a player. David McGovern of the Philadelphia Keystones certainly showed that this month with a fine 3-1 won-lost record and impressive 2.63 ERA. For his superb performance McGovern was named the Professional Baseball Circuit Rookie of the Month. In September he started 6 games, tossed 41 innings, gave up 31 base hits, struck out 33 and walked 15. Opposing hitters combined for a .209 average against him. In 17 starts this season, McGovern has notched a 6-9 record and a 4.76 ERA. |
