Aces Beat Thunder, 3-1, to Start CQ
|
The Las Vegas Aces powered past the hometown Tampa Bay Thunder, 3-1, in the opener of the Cup Qualifier at The Thunder Bowl. Las Vegas starting pitcher Tim Keller threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Aces now lead the series 1-0.
Las Vegas needed the clutch hitting of Dustin Denmark to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Aces on top, 3-1. For the game, Denmark had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"There's nothing like the postseason," said Keller, "to ramp up the pressure."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Thunder Bowl in Tampa.
