Washington and Tampa Bay duked it out and the Warriors came out victorious.

Tampa Bay wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Kevin Schuerger, falling to the Washington Warriors, 4-3. Schuerger threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. The winner was Washington reliever Paul Marchman, now 1-0. The loser was Zeke Smothers. Gennaro Velo earned the save for Washington, his 1st.

Washington won the game in part because of Matthew McCormick. The second baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Warriors ahead, 4-3. For the game, McCormick had 2 doubles and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"It's the best feeling when you come through for your teammates," said McCormick.

The win puts Washington at 5-4.
