The Denver Cutthroats downed the El Paso Diablos, 6-1, at Cutter's Cove. Stellar pitching by Aaron Sales had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 4th in the PBC in wins with 10 in 2006, handcuffed his opponent all game. The third-place Cutthroats bumped their record to 44-38.

The Cutthroats got a big at-bat from third baseman Gary Payer. For the game, Payer went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 18th home run of the season gave Denver a 2-1 lead.

Payer said his team "played with focus."
