9-2 Loss Extends New York City Losing Streak
|
The Boston Shamrocks defeated the New York City Blues by the score of 9-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Josh Olson. Olson slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Shamrocks on the day. Mario Sanchez, the winning pitcher, is now 9-6. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 6. The Shamrocks, at 38-34, have now won 4 straight.
With Boston leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Olson hit a slider from Tyler Crimmins for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Shamrocks ahead, 5-1.
"The effort wasn't good enough," said losing manager Kurt Schull.
