The Denver Cutthroats defeated the Miami Sun Sox, 5-3, in part because of shortstop Dewey Duggan. Duggan went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs for the Cutthroats. Luke Dickerson earned his 11th save, after closing out the game. The win boosted Denver to 38-28.

Denver needed the clutch hitting of Jim Boutin to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cutthroats on top, 4-3. For the game, Boutin had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
