The Diablos grabbed a win, 3-2, at Inferno Field, overcoming a fine effort from Washington pitcher Ron Clous. Clous went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. El Paso, now 20-17, holds down 4th place in the West Division.
James Queen had a big solo home run for the Diablos in the bottom of the sixth inning. With El Paso leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from Ron Clous, who led the PBC in strikeouts with 210 in 2009, and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Diablos on top, 3-1.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Washington manager Angel Sanchez. "We just didn't cash in."
