Blues Use Late Score to Top Cutthroats, 5-4
|
In a close game at Blues Field, the New York City Blues edged the Denver Cutthroats, 5-4, in 11 innings. New York City left fielder Ryan Burns stood apart with his performance. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. New York City reliever Greg Brister got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Tony Estrada was tagged with the loss. The New York City winning streak has reached 3 games.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 11th. With one out, Burns hit a fastball from Tony Estrada for a solo home run. The Blues, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Kurt Schull, the New York City manager.
