Titans Jolt Keystones, 7-5, with Late Rally
|
Toronto center fielder Dave Kershner played a vital role in his team's 7-5 conquest of Philadelphia. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Toronto. Francisco Chavez, the winning pitcher, is now 2-1. He went 8 innings, allowing 5 runs on 11 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 0. Josh O'Neill got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Toronto took a 7-5 lead on Chris Oldfield's 4th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Oldfield hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Philadelphia pitcher Xavier Rodriguez visibly frustrated.
In postgame comments to the Toronto Daily, Oldfield said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Keystones, now 3-9, continue their sluggish start.
