Blues Pitching Ravaged by Coutee Wednesday, June 30th , 2010 After a 5-hit effort to lead Philadelphia (R)'s 9-7 victory over the New York City (R) Blues, left fielder Devin Coutee told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the PBC Rookie Complex League-level is really something special." The 20-year-old player earned his accolades at PBC Rookie Development Complex with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Blues. "His swing is getting there," said Keystones skipper Alan Bonney, who spoke glowingly of Coutee after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Devin did that to perfection." Devin Coutee hit a solo-shot off Mike Johnson in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off James Johnson in the 7th and singled in the 9th. View Boxscore View Game Log |
