Ismael Cano Named Premier ABC Player

Ismael Cano took Amateur Baseball Circuit by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 26.

For his spectacular campaign, the Houston Apollos star has been named the 2010 Amateur Baseball Circuit Most Valuable Player Award recipient.

"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the first baseman.

On the season he compiled a .363 batting average to go with a .407 on-base percentage. The native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic also added 14 doubles, 1 triple, 35 home runs, 90 RBIs and 69 runs scored.

He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 18. Jesse Perry of the Manchester Monarchs finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while J.D. Blank of the Albuquerque Coyotes finished third with 1 first place vote.
