Cardenas Grabs ABC Reliever of the Year Award Friday, October 22nd , 2010 He's a veteran presence in the St. Petersburg Pelicans bullpen and now Federico Cardenas can say he's a 2010 award winner. The bullpen ace was today named the Amateur Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award winner. "When you're 41 years old, your main objective is to just stay healthy and stay productive. I guess I did that this year," he said. The award was won on the strength of a season that featured 5 saves in 41 relief appearances, with 58 strikeouts in 64.1 innings and a record of 9-1 to go with his 1.12 ERA. He received 18 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Jaquan Porter of the Manchester Monarchs finished second in voting, while Eric Spotts of the Tulsa Twisters finished third.
