Battalion Califano Decides to Retire Thursday, August 5th , 2010 Zack Califano said he would rather walk away from the game than be forced out of it. At 39 years of age, the Boston Battalion first baseman today announced that this season will be his last. "I'm happy to get out with my health still intact and at a young enough age where I can look forward to the rest of my life," Califano said. Califano is batting .247 lifetime with 296 hits, 70 doubles, 7 triples, 36 home runs, and 141 RBIs to date. He has also scored 185 runs. |
