Top SPBC Reliever Honored
Wednesday, October 27th , 2010
Steve Arthur of the Detroit Chargers has been named the winner of the 2010 Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award.
The award comes at an opportune time too, as the 33-year-old is an impending free agent.
"You always hope to have this type of year every year, but it's pretty special to have it before I go to free agency, if that happens," he said.
On the year, the relief ace had a 2.46 ERA over 98.2 innings of work. He made 29 relief appearances and had 9 saves, 102 strikeouts, 55 walks and a record of 10-8. Opponent batters hit only .214 against him.
He received 18 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Steve Turnbull of the Winnipeg Buffaloes finished second in voting, while Alexis Alvarez of the Vancouver Bruins finished third.
