Chicago's Kasai Calls It a Career, Suffers Setback and Retires Monday, November 1st , 2010 Tough news out of Chicago for Shigeo Kasai, 30-year-old third baseman for the Blackhawks. According to a team spokesman, "Kasai suffered a potential career-ending injury during a workout yesterday." It was another devastating setback for Kasai, who now might be facing a forced retirement. His rehabilitation from a ruptured achilles tendon was going well. His doctors were pleased with his progress and thought he might be activated soon. Then the ultimate injury happened. During his career, Kasai has notched 407 hits and a .268 average with 36 home runs and 158 RBIs. |
