George Pickens Wallops 3 Homers for Thunder Wednesday, September 15th , 2010 It was a day for the record books for Tampa Bay Thunder right fielder George Pickens, who walloped three out of The Thunder Bowl against the Diablos. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the Diablos from getting the 11-8 victory. "We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," Tampa Bay skipper Dick Granade joked after the loss. Pickens still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 4-for-4 for the day, batting in 5 runs and scoring 4 times. "I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," Pickens said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time." George Pickens hit a solo-shot off Alex Arias in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Alex Arias in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Ryan Barker in the 7th and doubled in the 9th. Pickens is currently batting .228 with 11 home runs, 34 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 52 hits in 228 at-bats. |
