Vacaville Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
|
The Vacaville Steelheads started the Division Championship Series in dramatic fashion, stealing Game 1 from the Winnipeg Buffaloes in a walk-off. Vacaville won, 4-2, behind a good day from starter John Stuart. The right-hander threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which gave the Steelheads a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
Vacaville got a clutch hit from Ruben Hernandez. The center fielder launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"John did a heck of a job," said Vacaville manager Sergio Rodriguez.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Vacaville in Vacaville.
