Shamrocks Suffer 7-1 Loss to Atlanta
|
Thanks in large part to center fielder Mike Stephens, the Atlanta Pilots beat the Boston Shamrocks, 7-1. Stephens belted 2 home runs. The win belonged to Chris Nester in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Nick Parker took the loss for Boston. The win lifts Atlanta to a record of 3-5.
In the bottom of the fourth, Atlanta right fielder Jim Wermter had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Wermter stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 6-1, Atlanta. For the game, he was 2-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs.
Said losing manager Arlo Zimmerman: "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."
