Wermter Delivers Walk-Off Win for Pilots
The Atlanta Pilots defeated the Tampa Bay Thunder, 7-6, in Professional Baseball Circuit action at The Hangar. Atlanta pitcher Matt McFadyen had a standout performance. Reliever D.J. Whetstone picked up the win. His record improves to 3-8. Zeke Smothers, who leads the PBC in holds with 11, took the loss. The Pilots move to 37-46 with the win, while the Thunder drop to 57-26.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 2007 Rookie of the Year Award winner Jim Wermter had a real shot to win the game. Tampa Bay pitcher Zeke Smothers was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Wermter hit a run-scoring single. The Pilots had a walk-off triumph.

"Matt was throwing free and easy," said Atlanta manager Andrew Scharbach.
