Peanuts Beat Blackhawks, 5-3
|
Jason Scott did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Chicago Blackhawks from being beaten, 5-3, to the San Francisco Peanuts at Garibaldi's Grounds. Scott went 1 for 1 with a home run. Nathan Billingsley claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 4 innings. His record stands at 6-2. The Peanuts sit in third place in the West Division with a record of 43-37.
Jose Jones had a big 2-run double for the Peanuts in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Francisco leading 3-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a changeup from Isaiah Hoffman, who finished 5th in the PBC in saves with 12 in 2007, and swatted a double to right. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Peanuts ahead, 5-0.
"We had some nice at-bats at the right time," said Peanuts manager Larry Link.
