Eagles Hand Canadians 8-4 Loss
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Newark Eagles and Sherbrooke Canadians.
The Newark Eagles defeated the Sherbrooke Canadians, 8-4, at Canadians Park. Newark was led by 36-year old first baseman Jason Buckner, who went 2-3 with a double and 2 walks, while scoring 3. Picking up the win was Miguel Moreno. He went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits. The right--hander struck out 8 and walked 5.
Jeremy Buck was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Newark. The 32-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Anthony Dulihanty. It was his 42nd RBI of the season.
"Jason leaves the last at-bat behind him, whether it was good or bad, and goes up there and competes on every pitch," said Newark manager Elijah Jackson.
Newark's record now stands at 33-51, placing them last in the East Division.
