Caracals Get Past Las Vegas, 4-3
|
The Las Vegas Rollers got a superb performance from pitcher Fred Goheen, but the Calgary Caracals still won the game, 4-3. Goheen threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Irving Gerritsen, now 8-4, was credited with the win in 0.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. The win makes Calgary 40-43.
Calgary won the game in part because of Jeremy Cooksey. The right fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Caracals ahead, 4-3. For the game, Cooksey had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
Cooksey called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
