Steelheads Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Vacaville Steelheads welcomed the Allentown Fleetwings to an night game at Ballpark of Vacaville.
The Vacaville Steelheads earned a close win over the Allentown Fleetwings, thanks in part to Steve Daniels. The Vacaville right-hander, who finished 2nd in the in wins with 11 in 2008, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. Kjeld Sijbrandij notched his 7th save in 10 chances.
Ruben Hernandez, who is tied for 2nd in the with a .593 slugging percentage, chipped in a solo home run for Vacaville in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 1 run batted in.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Allentown manager Ryan Carlson. "We just didn't cash in."
