Tampa Bay Makes It 7 Straight with 4-2 Win
|
Tampa Bay designated hitter Darnell Phillips helped his team beat the Philadelphia Keystones, 4-2. Phillips, who finished 2nd in the PBC in OPS with .969 in 2008, went 2 for 3 for the Thunder. Eric Parchman earned the win to go to 7-4. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. The winning continues for Tampa Bay, with the latest triumph making it 7 straight.
Phillips had a timely hit for Tampa Bay in the bottom of the eighth. With Tampa Bay trailing 2-1, he turned a first pitch fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 12th home run of the season, making it 4-2, Tampa Bay.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Phillips told the Tampa Bay Today.
