Blues Squelch Knights Offense in Shutout Win
|
At Blues Field, the Los Angeles Knights and New York City Blues were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The New York City Blues beat the Los Angeles Knights, 4-0, at Blues Field. Starting pitcher Matt Baird was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Baird yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 6, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-10.
The Blues had to work out of trouble in the top of the eighth. The score was 4-0, New York City, with one out. Los Angeles, with the bases loaded, was mounting a threat. Tony Barksdale dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 fastball, he struck out.
