Las Vegas Drops Another One, 7-4
|
Conditions were not ideal but Detroit and Las Vegas were able to put their game in the books.
The Detroit Chargers picked up a win at Chargers Field, knocking off the Las Vegas Rollers, 7-4. Starting pitcher Minoru Abe played a key role in the triumph. Detroit pitcher Jonathan Charles got the win. He's now 8-6. Ken Ortiz was tagged with the loss.
Detroit took a 5-4 lead on Matt Harrington's 16th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Harrington hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Las Vegas pitcher Ken Ortiz visibly frustrated.
"Minoru was throwing with conviction," said Detroit manager Bill Brown.
Detroit improves to 46-29 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.
