Newark second baseman Orlando Huichapa played a vital role in his team's 9-8 conquest of Allentown. He was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Newark. The win was credited to Joe German in relief. His record improves to 5-8. Joel Brewer took the loss. The last-place Eagles go to 27-43.

Newark got a knockout punch from Wally Smith. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
